The
Sarasota County Livestock Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the
SCAFA, Inc. (referred to as “the Fair”) Board of Directors. The purpose of the
Livestock Committee is to provide recommendations to the SCAFA Board for
adoption of the Sarasota County Fair Livestock Shows “Sarasota Fair Rules &
Entry Forms” document and provide oversight of the livestock shows during the
annual Sarasota County Fair.
Advisory Council:
The Sarasota County Agricultural Fair Association (referred to as “the Fair”) will strive to host the best agricultural fair in order to educate the community, showcase the socio-economic strengths of Sarasota, and provide a positive, unique opportunity and experience for our youth who participate.
To represent the interests of the community, the Fair will seek public input and participation through quarterly meetings. These meetings are open to anyone interested in promoting and improving the annual fair. Topics will include general fair operations, the budget, sponsors, and awards.
Attendees will be divided into subgroups representing each of the areas of the fair. The subgroups will discuss the specifics of their area of interest. For example, attendees that are interested in the dairy program will group together. The group can document protocols for how the show will operate from arrival, preparation, show and departure from the fair. The information is reviewed by the Livestock Committee for implementation.
Each subgroup of the fair (i.e. dairy, swine, steer, etc…) can nominate a person or assistant to the Livestock Committee for that category. This person will be responsible for their category during Livestock Committee meetings and the fair. The responsibilities include documenting protocol, coordinating adequate staffing for shows, participating in setting up the facilities for the fair, providing oversight during the entry, show preparation, exhibition and leaving the fair of exhibits.
